who’s your boyfriend – royel otis

here’s another song i came by on the college radio station. royel otis is another indie pop artist with lyrics about youthful heartbreak and relationships kind of typical of many these days; but i think this song is good enough to be a guilty pleasure.

there’s some background guitar strumming and a shiny, sparkling synth line that comes in during the chorus. the synth line brings to mind the one in “Just Like Heaven” by The Cure. and it’s a catchy chorus, which i really think is the highlight of this whole song. pavlovic’s vocals are light, pretty, and innocent, and rise and fall with the synth, something that belies the lyrics about confusing feelings and possibly infidelity.

this was a pretty fun number. give it a listen, in case you haven’t already.
